History of Flute

Music is the first creative expression of man. Flute has always been associated with Lord Krishna, who with his enchanting and melodious tunes used to attract the gopis and cows.
A cylindrical tube of uniform bore closed at one end, is made out of metal or ivory or wood. Mouth hole is pierced at a distance of inch from the closed end. 7-9 holes for finger are made in a straight line. 3 fingers of the left hand and 4 fingers of the right, close the seven finger holes, small fraction of a note is produced by the partial opening and closing of these holes, so flute belongs to the category Sushir Vadya [Wind Instrument].
